What is the best fabric for high-performance activewear?

There is no single best fabric - the strongest base is moisture-wicking polyester with spandex for stretch, plus breathable nylon or mesh for ventilation. The right choice then comes down to weight, knit and support level, matched to the activity. Matching fabric to activity

Low-impact styles like yoga and Pilates suit a softer nylon-spandex blend with a gentle handfeel. High-intensity training needs a lighter polyester mesh that dumps heat fast. Compression leggings use a power knit with 20-25% spandex for muscle support and opacity under stretch. Outdoor and transitional layers add a brushed back for warmth. The same silhouette can be offered in two fabrics so a brand covers both studio and street from one pattern.

Weight and handfeel decisions

Fabric weight, measured in grams per square metre, is the lever most brands under-use. A 180-220 gsm knit reads as premium and opaque for leggings; 130-160 gsm keeps a training tee light. We confirm weight at sampling alongside colour and stretch, and we can print, sublimate or bond the surface to change the look without changing the performance.
