Ribbed Band Across the Centre Back
A ribbed band runs across the middle of the back between the strap roots. Because it is knitted with a rib it grips without an elastic casing, and it is the point where the wearer feels the fit — on a bra with no shoulder adjusters, this band is what keeps the front sitting flat.
Deep Scoop on Broad Straps
The front is cut in a deep scoop and carried on broad non-adjustable straps, so the load spreads across the whole shoulder rather than two narrow points. Nothing on the front is shaped or seamed, which keeps the panel cheap to decorate and easy to re-colour.
Diamond Lattice Above the Band
Between the shoulder and the band the straps cross into a diamond. The openings stay open on the wearer because each strap is cut from the same knit and bar-tacked at the roots, so the lattice does not collapse into a single line of tension.
The band across the back is knitted with a rib rather than fitted as a separate elastic casing, which removes a trim from the bill of materials and removes the line where a casing would sit. That only works if the band is knitted to the right density for the ribcage it has to grip: too loose and the front rides up, too tight and it cuts.
