OEM Custom High-Impact Racerback Bra — Design & Features
A high-impact bra built on wide racerback straps, a ribbed underband, and a sculpted front panel.
Wide Racerback Straps
Two broad straps run over the shoulder and merge into a Y at the upper back, which is the geometry that stops the straps from pressing on the neck under load. The strap roots are set wide where they meet the front panel so the neckline does not lift during overhead work.
Ribbed Underband
The band is knitted with a rib so it grips the ribcage without a separate elastic casing. Rib construction also gives the band more vertical recovery than a flat knit, which is the difference between a band that holds after fifty washes and one that slackens.
Sculpted Front Panel
The front is given a moulded line across the bust rather than left as a flat panel. On a high-impact build this is where the stability comes from — the shaping keeps the chest panel from collapsing inward when the wearer runs.
This one runs on the heavier end of our knit range — 240-330 GSM — because the moulded front line and the ribbed band both need body in the fabric to hold their shape. A lighter knit can be used, but the band then needs a separate elastic to keep the same grip, which adds a casing and a seam on the inside of the bra. Most buyers stay on the heavier base once they have compared the two samples.

Ribbed Band & Hem Opening

Racerback Junction
Where the two straps meet at the upper back. The junction is reinforced with a stitched overlay so the load is spread across the join instead of concentrating on one seam line — the point that fails first on a cheaply built racerback.

Is the front panel a moulded cup or a shaped seam?
It is a shaped knit line, not a heat-moulded cup. The panel is knitted and cut to a sculpted line across the bust, which gives the same lifted read in wear without a mould tool, so there is no tooling charge and no minimum that comes with one. If your range does need a true moulded cup we would quote that as a separate build.
How does the ribbed band behave after a hot wash?
Rib construction has more stretch in it than a flat band, so it recovers well, but it also means the band should not be dried on high heat. We run a wash test at the sample stage and can adjust the rib density if your market tests aggressively. Tell us the cycle count you work to and we match it before bulk.
Can the cut-out at the hem be removed?
Yes. The hem opening is a cut detail rather than a structural one, so we can run the same band as a solid hem with no change to the support. Buyers who sell into a conservative retail channel usually take it closed, and it becomes a solid crop that still shows the ribbed band as the feature.
Can I order a sample before placing a wholesale apparel order?
Yes — a pre-production sample is made on the bulk lines in your fabric and colour, so you can check fit, measurements, and wash performance before you commit. The sample fee is charged per style and covers the sew-out; sample shipping is billed at cost. On a high-impact build we would use the sample stage to run a wear trial as well as a fit check — band recovery after washing is the number worth confirming before bulk.
